Heavy Rain, Flash Flood Threat For the Gulf Coast, South Continues Through the Weekend
More locally heavy rain is on the way over the next several days for the recently waterlogged parts of the Gulf Coast and South, raising the threat of local flash flooding.
New Orleans has seen rain the past eight days in a row through Thursday, tallying 7.31 inches of rain in that time.
Tuesday, 3.35 inches of rain soaked the "Big Easy", flooding streets and swamping vehicles in New Orleans East. Wednesday, huge hail up to baseball size pelted the New Orleans metro area.
No less soaked, Mobile, Alabama has picked up 10.56 inches of rain over the past seven straight days of rain through Thursday. Much of that was from a 7.28 inch deluge Sunday, their fourth wettest April day on record.
